Changes to our policies

Every change to our policies is listed here, newest first, so you can see what changed and when. The current text of each policy shows its version number at the top and bottom.

Terms of Service

  • Version 1.8, 31 October 2026. Changes to a name, phone number, address, website or category now appear automatically within about 15 minutes instead of being reviewed first.
  • Version 1.7, 19 October 2026. Search engines and assistants that follow our robots.txt file are now named as allowed; other automated access stays forbidden.
  • Version 1.6, 10 October 2026. We now say that a business is emailed about its listing only once, and that anyone can stop these emails at everynearby.com/stop-emails/.
  • Version 1.5, 4 October 2026. The operator and the Grievance Officer are named, with a phone number for grievances.
  • Version 1.4, 4 October 2026. Contact routes corrected: WhatsApp and the enquiry form are offered only where a business provides them.
  • Version 1.3, 4 October 2026. Signing in by a code to email or mobile; claiming by the phone number on the listing; adding a business; all badges named as not for sale; how ownership cases are decided.
  • Version 1.2, 4 October 2026. First published version.

Privacy Policy

  • Version 1.8, 19 October 2026. Added: what we keep when you answer “Did this number work?”, and that a listing may show how many visitors said its number worked.
  • Version 1.7, 19 October 2026. Service providers now also include the companies that provide the software assistants that help us run the service. The line on stopping our messages no longer says "with one tap". Added: reports, enquiries and claims keep only a scrambled form of the network address; a city you choose is remembered by your own browser, not by us; a request for our badge picture is logged like any other request.
  • Version 1.6, 10 October 2026. We now say that a business is written to about its listing only once, and that these emails can be stopped at everynearby.com/stop-emails/ or by replying STOP. An address on the stop list is kept only so that we do not write to it again.
  • Version 1.5, 5 October 2026. The line about your location now also covers “Use my location”, which finds the nearest city we cover. As before, the location is not stored.
  • Version 1.4, 4 October 2026. The operator and the Grievance Officer are named, with a phone number for grievances.
  • Version 1.3, 4 October 2026. Added: a visitor’s city and interests; business registration numbers and how they are kept private; ownership cases; how promotional messages are chosen. Stated that we do not ask for PAN, Aadhaar or bank details.
  • Version 1.2, 4 October 2026. First published version.

Listing and Content Policy

  • Version 1.5, 31 October 2026. New listings and changes to a listing now show automatically within about 15 minutes instead of being read first.
  • Version 1.4, 4 October 2026. The “GST registered” badge defined; the three ways to claim a listing; adding a business; which changes are reviewed.
  • Version 1.3, 4 October 2026. New section: when two people claim the same business.
  • Version 1.2, 4 October 2026. First published version.

Review Policy

  • Version 1.4, 31 October 2026. Reviews and replies are now published automatically within about 15 minutes, without a person reading them first.
  • Version 1.3, 19 October 2026. Writing a review needs an account; your name is shown, your email address or mobile number never is. A business may now post one public reply to a review; a reply is read before it appears, like a review.
  • Version 1.2, 4 October 2026. First published version.

How we check listings

  • 4 October 2026. Rewritten for the stricter website check. A listing now counts as checked only when its website is live, is still the business’s own, is not a parked page, and names the business. Every date set by the earlier method was withdrawn. The page now also says what a check does not cover, and lists all six badges.
